Projector or TV
At your screen size and room light, work out which one makes sense.

What this calculator works out
The honest answer depends on your room more than on the hardware. Below about 85 inches a television is brighter, simpler and often cheaper. Above it the economics invert quickly. Tell us the size you want and how much light the room gets and we will show you what a projector would have to deliver to compete.
At what size does a projector win?
Around 100 inches and up, in a room you can control the light in. A 100 inch television costs several times what a good projector and screen cost together, and the gap widens with every inch.
What does a television still do better?
Absolute brightness and black level in a lit room. A television emits light; a projector reflects it off a surface, and any light falling on that surface lifts the blacks. In a bright room that difference is large and no projector specification closes it.
